There's not yet any word on when the fix will be released, but Rockstar's will be updated with details when they are available, as well as with instructions on how to transfer your progress from a temporary Windows account to your permanent one. Please exit the game and re-install the latest version of the Social Club. Why would u re-download on a system it's already installed on? This problem will be fixed soon. In the meantime, you can deal with it by creating a new user account with administrator privileges and a name that consists only of the aforementioned characters. I know, I'm a bad egg whatever but I like to try before I buy as I wasn't going to lay down ~£40 for a game that wouldn't run on my laptop. Basically, if the Windows username you're using features any characters not included in , then you'll need to sign in with another user account, or else create a new one.

After watching some live streams, I decided to start downloading it. I signed into my Social Club account the same account I used on Xbox 360 and now it's asking for the Activation Code. Please exit the game and install the latest version of the Social Club. Specifically, Steam displayed an 'Installing' window for a few seconds and then closed, after which the game wouldn't load. After it had checked, it said that one file needed re-downloading or something like that and I was able to Auto-Login again! Is there anything I can do? Does anyone know why this is happening? There's no indication that Rockstar will be able to offer a fix that doesn't involve first saving your progress on console. There are no codes to worry about. It's possible they knew this was going to be a problem so they turned it off for everyone. Ahhh yes, there it is. That's right I was trying to use the same rockstar account in which the game already is on, but not with what could be? Be sure to reinstall and re-enable your antivirus after the test.
The updater may have failed. If you have not played in a long time, you will be prompted to accept a Title Update. If you already transferred your character and have lost vehicles, Rockstar suggests you. I don't know if this is a fix, but it fixed it in my case! From there, go into the 'Installers' folder and manually install the Rockstar Social Club through the installers found in that directory.
